What Makes Me Unique?

As a Mother myself, I understand the positive impact quality childcare can have on your peace of mind and your child's perception of themselves and the world around them.I strive to create a nurturing environment built on love, respect and one that fortifies physical and emotional development. Continue reading to learn more about how these philosophies are implemented in my home.

Love & Respect

I believe children's full spectrum of emotions are valid and their expressions - unique. I consider it my job to listen, validate and hold space for their whole selves to exist. This, a foundational element in developing respectful and loving relationships with the children I'm lucky enough to care for.

Nutrition

The health or lack thereof in the digestive system of a child is now considered a factor in behavior consistent with ADHD. Food coloring often leads to hyperactivity in sensitive little ones and sticky sweets so commonly given as a reward for "good" behavior is a major contributor to poor dental health. When children eat up to 50% of their meals in another person's care, the choices provided can have a drastically positive or negative impact on your wallet and the quality of connection you're able to have with your child once outside of my care.Because of this, the meals and snacks I provide are made using mostly whole foods and primarily organic. We love treats around here, but not as rewards and punishments and always using the natural sugars our bodies love, too!

Creativity

It is my joy to witness what a child can create when provided open ended supplies - the possibilities are endless! You may not receive pictures with color inside the lines or teacher directed crafts, but what you will see are creations purely from your child's well of creativity; unadulterated.

Free Play

"If a child has been able in his play to give up his whole loving being, to the world around him, he will be able, in the serious tasks of later life, to devote himself in confidence and power to the service of the world."Rudolph SteinerChildren's primary method of learning until age seven is, you guessed it, PLAY.Ample indoor and outdoor opportunity will be provided for this most seriously important work.

Medical Freedom

It's important to me that you feel confident in the values that will be upheld in my home and business, which is why I don't think there can be any ambiguity on where I stand regarding mandates/masks/injections. I understand that upholding health freedom in my home and all outings may be off-putting or celebratory depending on varying value systems. The photo above illustrates the mass amount of nerves throughout a child's face that are actively helping to inform a connection and relationship with their environment. Almost entirely via sight, smell and taste. The younger a child is, the more they rely on the responsiveness of a caregiver's expressions and vice versa. Because of this, placing a mask on mine or a child's face would be an unethical violation I don't make concessions on.Otherwise, I believe in a parent's ability to know and choose what is best for their children over all other governing entities.

Hi! I'm Macinsey

The birth of my first baby catapulted my interest into childhood growth and development. Immersed in wonder for the wisdom and skills so effortlessly flowing out of him with little "teaching" from me, I began to find so much resonance and belonging amongst the philosophies of Rudolph Steiner (the creator of Waldorf Education), Magda Gerber (on infant care and respect), Janet Lansbury (who has extended Magda Gerber's teachings) and now, as a homeschooling Mom, I find reprieve in John Holt's work (author of How Children Learn) and John Taylor Gatto's numerous books on traditional education. As a health coach, food has always been a topic of discussion and cooking, a fun and early exploration in my family. Pulling from European and Asian cultures, I love learning about their emphasis on offering real, unprocessed food from birth and the positive physical and emotional health outcomes that result. As I made the transition from stay-at-home to working Mom three years ago though, I came to realize how challenging it was to find what I saw as very basic childhood needs, under one "daycare roof" that could also work with my full-time schedule. Dropping my daughter off each day quickly became a huge internal tension. This experience in stark contrast to the level of peace I felt years earlier as I dropped my son off to a preschool he attended while our family lived out of state.A spark of desire to create a space like the one we so enjoyed and to serve families looking for the same things was palpable in 2015 and I am so happy to bring it to life present day with each family that entrusts me to care for their children - the real teachers.
